Economic Issues in the International Context (EIIC)

A research-based teaching initiative supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) under the project “Internationalization of German Universities” at The Hochschule Mittweida, University of Applied Science (HSMW), Germany.

Promoting Internationalization in German Higher Education: DAAD-Funded Project Led by Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar

The key component of this initiative is the promotion of international academic collaboration through the involvement of highly qualified foreign guest lecturers. In 2024, funding under Model A – Promotion of Foreign Guest Lecturers for Teaching Activities at German Universities has been awarded to Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar, University of Applied Sciences in Nysa/University of Opole, Poland, in recognition of his outstanding academic achievements and dedication to international education.

Prof. Kumar will contribute to the teaching and international outreach efforts at Hochschule Mittweida University of Applied Sciences from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. The project is coordinated and supervised by Prof. Dr. rer. oec. Serge Velesco, Educational Dean for Cooperation Degree Programs in the Faculty of Industrial Engineering.

This initiative exemplifies Germany’s commitment to fostering global academic exchange and strengthening the international dimension of its universities.

Project Goals and Long-Term Impact

The overarching aim of the project is to contribute to the development of globally oriented and efficient universities in Germany. It seeks to establish and strengthen international exchange and cooperation, while also advancing the internationalization strategy and profile building of Hochschule Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Germany .

The program is designed to deliver the following key outcomes:

  • International and Intercultural Learning for Students: Students gain valuable global perspectives and intercultural competencies through interaction with international faculty—a core component of “Internationalisation@home.”
  • Strengthening the International Dimension of Teaching: The inclusion of foreign guest lecturers enhances the diversity and global relevance of the academic curriculum.
